My Ideal Day

My Ideal Day

My ideal day would be to wake up in a tent at the foot of a mountain during the summer when it's warm, then cooking a breakfast of French toast and bacon with orange juice or milk. Then, after cleaning that up, going for a long hike on a trail to the top of the mountain and looking out in all directions with binoculars at all of the amazing things. Eating an easy lunch of a sandwich and just relax exploring around the top while taking everything in for an hour or more. Then when I feel fulfilled or tired head slowly back to the campsite, by a different trail to see more sights. Then when I get back to the camp cook a hamburger for supper and with it have some egg salad, chips, and a Dr. Pepper. Make a fire and have some s'mores, go into the tent and get some shut eye.

Motivation Blog post on AZEEM'S RESEARCH STUDY

There was numerous problems in this blog, plagiarism, spelling and many things that could be improved like citations, hyperlinks, and your format of writing. It looks as though you read someones article, liked it, then copied and pasted it onto your blog and claimed it as your own. Anyway the article itself was okay. I am wondering why you would even have this on your blog unless it was school related in some way. So it defiantly needs some work.

Eugenics

Multiple intelligence in MSAD 48

In my experiences of public education it tests many forms of intelligences depending on which classes. Like gym is physical, English is reading and writing, Math with numbers and it is different in most classes. So I guess all schools programs have some diversity. I'm more of a visual learner, so if I can see how it is done I can usually do it. I don't really know if MSAD has strengthened or weakened my ability to learn this way because it depends on the classes and the teachers. I don't think the program has discouraged any intelligences unless you are really set against something that it just makes you feel worse about that thing. With the diversity of classes it seems they have tried to build on weaknesses.

Article Review #2

Marano, Hara. "How to Get Great Sleep." Psychology Today Magazine Nov./Dec. 2003

http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/pto-20031028-000007.html

This article contained information on how to get better sleep. It describes how when we get to sleep and when we get up affect how we sleep and what we will be like the next day. Not getting enough sleep or not getting to sleep at he right time can cause depression. Work, all other activities at night like tv, internet, all night casinos or stores, and having less social interaction all cause stress which takes away sleep. "When we interrupt the natural rhythm of day and night for any reason—even reveling—we risk setting off a cascade of problems." What we do at night affects everything we do during the day-how we learn, our stanima, memory, skills, health, safety, and mood. It is normal to not sleep well every once in a while.

Article Review

Flora, Carlin. "Tough Love." Psychology Today Magazine Nov./Dec. 2005

In this article they discuss the effects of interventions on someone who is suffering from a drug or alcohol of addiction. It starts by telling about Brenda who has been an alcoholic and drug addict for 30 years and has been drinking up to 28 beers a day. Her husband was also an alcoholic and was arrested for beating one of their sons. Her sister said "I think everyone had given up on her."
So they decided to confront Brenda in the hopes of forcing her into treatment. Normally called an intervention, which in the psych world the term refers more generally to the use of any therapy. It says that no data exists on the effectiveness of an intervention, but motivational interviewing conducted by licensed therapists has reduced alcohol and drug use. Some Psychologists say that a normal intervention may backfire, causing resistance by the abuser. "Addicts don't deny that they're using," says Bob Poznanovich the CEO of Addiction Intervention Resources which is a company that, for a price, arranges interventions "They deny that it's hurting others."
Then, they tell how an intervention should be staged. They staged Brenda's, they came in and read their statements of what the addictions are doing to her. The last to read was her 13-year-old son. "I just want to be a kid," he said. "I don't want to be a grown-up when I'm not a grown-up." She agreed to go into rehab. But, an intervention may not always be the best method to use trying to help someone, "There are cases when a person is never seen again and where families are broken up," says Alan Marlatt, professor at the University of Washington. "It can make them want to drink more." Even if an intervention succeeds in getting the abuser into treatment, it is only the first step in what is destined to be a hard road to recovery.

I think this is a good article and relates to psychology a lot. It discusses the reactions of an intervention on an addict and if it is helpful in getting them to stop abusing. Seeing all friends and family there trying to help you can show you how much they care and then you want to show that you care about them and yourself too, so you try rehab. Or it could backfire and cause the person to be very embarrassed which could make things much worse.
